Many of you have seen the new mobile devices and heard all the hype about Google's new mobile operating system, but what really makes it that awesome? It is more the idea behind Android that makes it so amazing. For starters, its open, this means that anyone can go to the developer website, Android, download the SDK, follow the instructions and start making applications.
Why does this rival Apple's product? We answered that question in the first paragraph with a simple statement, "its open". The mobile operating system's applications are community supported. This means that developers can make applications for their purpose. Before this time you had to accept what you purchased from Apple's market given you had an Apple device. So again, why does this rival Apple's product? Have you ever been browsing the App Store on your Apple Device and thought man I really wish I had this application? Or have you seen an application that you really want or need but are not willing to pay money for it? Well if you have a friend that has an Android device have a look at their market. See if your application exists, is it free? The majority but not all applications on the Android market are free. From what I have seen almost everything that I have purchased on my iPod exists on an Android device for nothing, come on Angry Birds!!!!!
What is so different about iOS than Android? I can't really describe the difference in every little detail or this blog would take more time to read than your willing or already have. If you have ever used or picked up an Android device I will find it hard pressed to see a person that doesn't feel, unlocked, compared to an Apple product. Can the iPhone do everything that an Android device can? For the most part yes it can, but with Android there is nothing holding back what can actually be developed for the devices that exist today and the devices yet to be made.
Google has done more than just create a mobile operating system. They have created jobs with Android across the world, empowered hardware manufacturers, and have given people a great mobile operating system for next to nothing.
Am I an Apple hater? Lol, well..... I admit Apple has paved the market with their product and I myself own an Apple device. I love the interface, battery life, and the free apps that I do have. And when the hackers port Android to the iPod Touch 4 I will have a Wi-Fi enabled phone device and not pay a carrier, but also enjoy iOS whenever I want to. I think Apple has done a great job at developing a product that anyone can use. However, for those of us that want power behind a device and simply want more, Android is the way to go.
